Speech and Language Evaluation

What can I expect during the evaluation?

The evaluation will be used to find out information about your child’s:

Language Skills

• Receptive language- what your child understands
• Expressive language- how your child communicates
• Pragmatic language- social use of language, which includes eye contact, attention to the speaker, taking turns in a conversation

Articulation Skills

• How your child pronounces sounds in words and in sentences

Oral Motor Skills

• Evaluates facial muscles, lips, teeth, tongue, and palate

Voice

• Quality, rate, and loudness of your child’s voice

Fluency

• Ability to speak easily and smoothly
